It takes just 20 minutes to make from start to finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French baguette or Italian bread
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan or shredded mozzarella (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
  • In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Spread the garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the bread.
  • Top with cheese if using.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden and crisp around the edges.
  • Broil for an additional 1–2 minutes if desired.
  • Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Let the garlic butter rest before spreading for deeper flavor.
  • Use roasted garlic for a milder taste.
  • For extra crispness, pre-toast bread before buttering.
